Wall of the Week

7 January, 2022

I spend a lot of time ogling interiors. Of all kinds. But what stands out to me are of course the walls. It's fascinating to see how frames, or any wall hanging, can add to a room's feel and style. Whether it's the placing of a gallery wall or the bling of a metallic frame in an otherwise neutral room. So I've decided to share my favourites in a Wall of the Week post.

Swipe left to see the first up which is from @the_decor_studio. I held my breath when I saw this image for the first time as it is EVERYTHING I love in a gallery wall.

It's the mixture of the colour and also the width of the frames; wide wooden frames, thin wooden frames, antique gold next to a very thin I'm assuming aluminium.

And there are a mixture of sizes; a large canvas and then a teeny miniature that makes me want to walk over and take a look.

The difference in the mounting of the images also adds so much to the aesthetic. Some with a large border, others with no border at all AND some different colours of mountboard; some white, some more creamy and even a yellow.

And forget just frames, there are sculptures thrown in creating a 3D effect that kind of affects how you look at the frames somehow, it gives them depth too..

And then there's the placement of the images. The large abstract numbers canvas with smaller frames scattered above and below. And below meaning, to the floor. YES. I'm furiously framing my own things at the moment so I can do 'to the floor' in more than one room.

The choice of images is also a major part of why this works. There's a moody, dusky tone to all of them that just fit the space perfectly.

I actually want an image of this interior on my wall. My to the floor gallery wall.
